Ischnura pumilio (Small Bluetail) is commonly found on standing waters in early stage of succession throughout Europe except the very north, northern Africa and parts of Asia. Populations usually disappear when vegetation gets dense.
Females are a bright and attractive orange when immature (this is called forma aurantiaca) and turn either green or blue when mature.
