Lestes macrostigma (Eversmann, 1836) – Dark Spreadwing
NL: Grote pantserjuffer | DE: Dunkle Binsenjungfer | FR: Leste à grands ptérostigmas

Lestes macrostigma (Dark Spreadwing) is the largest spreadwing in our area and the rarest one as well. It’s found on brackish habitats along the French Atlantic coast, the northern Mediterranean and east to Siberia. Despite this large geographical range, populations show strong fluctuations and are far apart. Western populations are mostly coastal while more to the east Dark Spreadwings are found around steppe lakes.
