Cordulegaster bidentata Selys, 1843 – Sombre Goldenring

Cordulegaster bidentata (Sombre Goldenring) is a very large species with a wing span of up to 10 centimeters. Sombre Goldenrings mainly breed in mountain springs in Central and Western Europe. These springs are cold and usually contain little water and food so development of the nymphs can take 5 years.
