Cordulia aenea (Linnaeus, 1758) – Downy Emerald

Cordulia aenea (Downy Emerald) is a widespread species: it occurs all over northern Eurasia and is common to abundant in most of its geographical range.
At the beginning of its flight period in spring, Downy Emeralds can be locally found in huge numbers. Teneral females sometimes show striking bronze wings, which clear up after a bit of time.
