Somatochlora metallica (Vander Linden, 1825) – Brilliant Emerald
NL: Metaalglanslibel | DE: Glänzende Smaragdlibelle | FR: Cordulie métallique

Somatochlora metallica (Brilliant Emerald) occurs in most of northern Eurasia and is common in most of its geographical range. In southern and south-eastern Europe it’s largely replaced by its doppelgänger Somatochlora meridionalis (Balkan Emerald). Both species inhabit a variety of flowing waters but S. metallica inhabits standing waters as well.
