Gomphus davidi Selys, 1887 – Levant Clubtail

As the vernacular name implies, this species is restricted to the eastern Mediterranean: it can be found from eastern Turkey near Adana to the northern half of Israel. In appearance it resembles a paler coloured Gomphus simillimus but these two species are widely separated in distribution. The picture below was taken north of Adana along the Seyhan river.
