Sympetrum striolatum (Charpentier, 1840) – Common Darter

Sympetrum stiolatum (Common Darter), as indicated by its vernacular name, is common throughout its range which spans from western Europe and the Mediterranean to Japan.
In most of its range Common Darter can be confused with Moustached Darter (Sympetrum vulgatum) which has a slightly different black mark on the frons.
