Trithemis annulata (Palisot de Beauvois, 1807) – Violet Dropwing
NL: Purperlibel | DE: Violetter Sonnenzeiger | FR: Trithémis annelé

Trithemis annulata (Violet Dropwing) is very common all over Africa, the Mediterranean and Middle East. From Iran to the east it is replaced by the similar looking Trithemis aurora. Violet Dropwings slowly expand their range to the north; in the late 1990s the species moved into southern France from Spain and in 2018 individuals were seen as far north as Tours in central France.
