For ages the taxonomic classification of Green-eyed Darner as Aeshna isoceles has been debated and for good reason: there were plenty of indications the species wasn’t very closely related to other species in the genus Aeshna. DNA analysis has proved that it doesn’t fit well in any of the exisiting genera so a new, monotypic genus (= a genus containing only one species) was called to life: Isoaeschna. This tiny update reflects this change of nomenclature.
